God's Peace

Finding God’s Peace

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor My covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10

The world is full of troubles,
Causing our heart to fear.
But God is there to give us peace,
And wipe away each tear.

When you are full of despair and grief,
At the altar, these things release.
God is there to bring relief
And will give you peace.

His peace restores our troubled soul,
Though our circumstances remain;
God quiets our anxious heart and mind,
As He eases our pain.

Lean into God, His love is there;
It will never be shaken.
He will get you through the sorrow,
And your joy He will awaken.

Do you struggle to find peace when the world is riddled with war, crime, hate, and disasters? It can cause us to fear even when there is no immediate threat to our own safety. It can cause us to sometimes question God. But Jesus said we would have troubles in this world. (I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 ) During trials and sorrows, we sometimes soothe ourselves with the things of this world, but they’re temporary and never fully satisfying. Only the peace of God can fully transform our broken hearts. Because Jesus has overcome the world, He can overcome our troubled hearts.

God knows everything we’re going through and wants to comfort us. (Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalms 55:22) Bring it all to God. Release your pain, your sorrow, your anxieties and fears. Through His love, His Word, and His power, He will sustain you through the battle and give you a peace that passes all understanding! He will guard your heart and mind from dwelling on the hurt. The circumstances may still remain, but God will give you the strength to overcome the feelings of despair, grief, helplessness, etc. (Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7) There are nights that I lie awake with troubles on my mind. But, then I give them to God and start quoting scriptures or singing praise songs. Just like the lullabies that soothe babies to sleep, God soothes my soul and gives me rest. I awake in the morning rested, refreshed, and ready to face the day in hope! PTL!

There are things that happen in this world that will never make sense. We live in a fallen world with fallen people. The world can be a scary place. Yet God wants us to live in hope not fear. (May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13) When we lean on God during difficult times, He’s there to comfort us in our pain, revive our weary souls, and restore our hope. Though it may not seem possible, He will lift our spirits and reawaken our joy. (Then He turned my sorrow into joy! He took away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy. Psalm 30:11)

Lord, I am grateful that I can rely on You in all things. Whatever I’m going through, I am grateful that You will comfort my anxious soul and give me peace. Thank you for Your steadfast love. Amen
