For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10
Captivating Woman: an ezer kenegdo, Wanted, needed desperately so. What is that irreplaceable role That God has placed deep in your soul? Captivating Chosen and dearly loved by God, Do you feel His gentle prod? Where is it He is guiding you; What is He leading you to do? Captivating You are the crown of creation. He looks at you with adoration; A Precious Jewel, a rare find, Only you can be you-one of a kind! Captivating Beauty unveiled, romanced by God, A God-given role only you can trod. This is the mystery of a woman's soul. Look to Him to make you whole. (inspired by Captivating by Stasi Eldredge)
Since March is National Women’s Month, I decided to write a blog about God’s “crown of creation”-woman. The world’s view of women and God’s view of women don’t always match up. God sees man and woman as equals. (So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27) He created them both in His image.
First, let’s discuss how woman was created. (So, the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, He took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Genesis 2:21) God created woman from man’s rib to walk beside her. She was a helpmeet, an ezer kenegdo. (And the LORD God said: ‘It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.’ Genesis 2:18) Ezer means strength and kenegdo means corresponding to. So, woman is a strength to man and is his equal. She supports him just as he supports her. God created Eve because He knew Adam needed her.
Now, God has created you for a special need! (God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. 1 Peter 4:10) We have all been created for a purpose. Sometimes that purpose is for a lifetime, and sometimes our purpose changes over the years. Have you found your purpose? What gift has God given you to share with the world? It’s not always easy to step out of our comfort zone and go where God is leading. But, if we’ve been created with a God-given talent or gift, it will come naturally to share it once we allow God to use us.
Remember, you are one of a kind! (For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10) When He created you, He looked at you with deep love and affection. He has plans for you that are uniquely suited for you. God used many women in the Bible to further His kingdom in both the Old and New Testament. Noah’s wife was an encourager to Noah when others doubted him, Deborah was a prophetess who encouraged others to do the right thing, Esther’s courage and humility saved her people from genocide, Abigail used wisdom to save her husband, Martha’s hospitality gave her a platform to share her faith, and Mary’s obedience and trust in God has been an example of faith to all of us. Just as God called these women, He is calling you. Embrace who you are! Take His hand and go make a difference!
Lord, thank you for creating me just the way I am with gifts and talents unique to me. Help me to be open to Your leading in knowing how to use them to honor You and further Your kingdom. Amen
