The Trinity
Remember, God is the One who makes you and us strong in Christ. God made us His chosen people. He put His mark on us to show that we are His, and He put his Spirit in our hearts to be a guarantee for all He has promised. 2 Corinthians 1: 21-22
Each person of the Trinity
Has a specific purpose on Earth,
To keep the connection with us
Since the onset of man's birth.
The Father created Adam and Eve
And conversed with them in the garden.
But sin separated man and God,
So He sent His Son to pardon.
Jesus came to save our souls,
To bridge the gap sin made.
He died but rose to life again
From the grave in which He laid.
Then, the Holy Spirit descended
To empower every believer
To spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ
And overcome the great deceiver.
The Trinity, Three in One,
Serves a purpose in our life:
Connecting, loving, empowering, guiding,
And giving peace where there is strife.
God has always existed. (Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. Psalm 90:2) It’s a hard concept to understand since we tend to think linear: beginning, middle, end. So, the Bible starts with the beginning of creation. We know God existed before that because He was there to create everything. We also know the Father, Son and Holy Spirit were together as one, The Trinity. (In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1) (In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2) Jesus and the Holy Spirit were with God the Father when He was creating the universe. But each entity of the Trinity has a specific purpose.
God the Father is the Creator. He created the universe. From the vastness of outer space to the minute organisms and everything in between, all was created by Him. Out of all these amazing things He created, He counted us as most precious, creating us in His image. (Then God said, “Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”Genesis 1:26) He created us to take care of the earth He just created. He created us for His pleasure and to bring Him glory. (Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:11) He desired a relationship with us. (See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1) The idea that God loves me is both humbling and exhilarating!
God the Son is the Savior. He came to give us life. He is God in the flesh. (And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14) Jesus was the image of the invisible Father. He was able to relate to God’s people at their level. He experienced what they experienced, and yet remained God. He was a living example of God’s teachings. (So Jesus told them, “My message is not My own; it comes from God who sent Me. John 7:16) His purpose was to show us the way back to God. (Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6) He willingly died on the cross to save our souls. (This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. 1 John 3:16) He endured the cross because He knew He would be resurrected and back with His Father in Heaven. (For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2) That kind of love is indescribable!
God the Holy Spirit is the Helper. (But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all that I said to you. John 14:26) He empowers us to live out our faith for all to see. (But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8) He gives us hope and peace in times of distress. (May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13) He gives us spiritual gifts and talents to build up the body of Christ, serve one another, and honor God. (As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace. 1 Peter 4:10) He gives us wisdom and guidance. (The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD. Isaiah 11:2) I am so grateful to have such an Advocate to lean on!
This is just a mere sampling of who the Trinity is. I’m sure you’ve experienced God in your own unique way, because that is how He relates to us. May you continue to grow in the knowledge of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit!
Thank you, Father God, for all of creation and creating me! Thank you, Lord Jesus, for giving Your life that we may be with You in heaven. Thank you, Holy Spirit for guiding me every day to live for You. Amen
