God’s Silver Linings
In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice; my cry came before Him, into His ears. Psalm 18:6
Dark clouds are over me, Causing me to grieve. Satan wants a hold on me, But in God I believe! Down on my knees, I pray to God, "Lord, pass these clouds on by." Then like a silver lining, the sky begins to clear- My God has heard my cry! Praise Him! Praise Him! For His unending love! God is my shield and protector, Watching o'er me from above.
I wrote this poem many years ago after a very difficult month. My purse had been stolen, there were issues at church, some family problems, and dissension at work. It felt like my whole world was falling apart! Satan was attacking me in every aspect of my life. I had nowhere to turn except God! After much prayer and lamenting, I felt a sense of peace flow through me. The problems surrounding me didn’t suddenly disappear, but angst over all of it did. I felt safe and knew that He loved my family and cared about my church and school. That old adage-this too shall pass-is something I rely on when I feel overly stressed. God reminds us our troubles are momentary and to focus not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. (2 Corinthians 4:17,18) God honors our faith when we trust in Him. Our troubles will eventually resolve one way or another. The skies will clear, and the sun will shine again. In the meantime, we keep our eyes on God, and He will see us through.
Lord, thank You for hearing our prayers. When we are in the trenches, and it seems all hope is lost, we can rely on You for strength, comfort, and peace. Amen
