God's Calling

Ambassador For Christ

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We urge you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20
I am calling you to be
 An ambassador for Me.
You must in My Word immerse,
So you can cite a particular verse.

I will give you a discerning heart,
If you will but do your part:
 Pray and meditate each day
On My Word and what I say.

Do not confuse My will with yours,
A discerning mind is par for the course.
You must pray, “Thy will be done.”
All other thoughts? From them you run!

Allow yourself for Me to mold
You into a witness, strong and bold.
I will give you the words to say
To lead the lost to the Light and the Way.

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become ambassadors for Him. In its most simplest terms, an ambassador is a representative. Therefore, we are representing Christ when we choose to follow Him. As a representative, we are commissioned to spread the Good News to everyone. (Matthew 28:19-20Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”)

Sometimes sharing the Good News will be easy. The recipients are eager to hear about God as they ask questions and soak up the scripture. But other times, sharing the gospel is difficult. Rather than a mutual desire to know God, we are bombarded by a non-believer to defend His Word. Be ready to give an answer so that your faith is a witness of the hope of Christ. (1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.) These opportunities help us strengthen our faith as we dig deeper into scripture for answers.

But we need to be discerning when we engage in conversations with non-believers. It’s easy to get defensive and argumentative. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your words and help you recall Bible verses that relate to the situation. Do not get discouraged when the conversation doesn’t go as you expected. Our responsibility as a Christian isn’t to save people’s souls. Only God can do that. But, we can prepare them to give their heart to God through scripture, our personal testimony, and prayer. (1 Corinthians 3:6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.) We may never see the fruit of our labor until we get to heaven, and that’s okay! Our motivation shouldn’t be a numbers game. Our motivation should be love for one another. Through that love, we can point others to Christ and allow God to work on their hearts.

Lord, I pray that when opportunities arise to share the gospel with someone, that You would give me the courage to speak up for my faith. Give me the words to say and bring the appropriate scriptures to mind that will speak into their hearts. Help me to be a faithful ambassador for You. Amen
